Donations for HQ Furniture

In the last issue of the GRHS News there was a request for donations for office furniture for Rachel Schmidt. As any member of the organization probably realizes, Rachel is the lynchpin that keeps everything running smoothly. Ted Becker has good news to report: "Members of GRHS stepped forward to help out, and I am happy to report that there is now enough money designated for new furniture for her office in the Equipment Fund." The Board of Directors confirmed this expenditure in their February meeting.

Ted expresses his thanks to all the members who contributed to make this happen. "Members of GRHS know how important Rachel is to the Society. The new furniture for her office is but a small token of appreciation to her for all she does to make GRHS 'click'...a small thing to make her job just a little bit easier and our way of saying thanks!"

Thanks to all the donors who made this possible...and a special thanks to Rachel for all her hard work for GRHS!

I have decided to try for the GRHS Website. If you can give me a start we will see what can be done. I will have a little more time to devote to it.

I will try to get a picture to you in a week or two. Now, smiles & more smiles. Thank you for being so patient with me. Very thankfully yours, Lester Seibold ..My highest regards, Les

Here are a few highlights about my life. Lester G. Seibold.

1. I had one major job in my life. I took over the family farm in 1961 when my father passed away.

2. I attained a Commercial Pilots Licence with Instrument training.

3. I ran for State political office and lost by a few votes.

The most influential people in my life were my mother and father.

I was head of a 14 County area promoting Weather Modification during the dry years, nominated to the National Board which I declined.

I was inspired by Tim Kloberdanz of NDSU who taught Germans from Russia. I flew to attend the meetings.

I was the first winner of the Joseph S. Height Literary Award. This was after I made several trips to Europe including one with Moorhead State University of Minnesota.

I loved several movies such as Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. I also liked Gone with the Wind.

I have lived on the same farm where I was born.

My wife who was 19 when we married is the best cook in the world. I was privileged to raise 3 children. This was a highlight no father should miss.

These are just a few highlights. Vern Blumhagen is a favorite cousin.

My best wishes to all. My smiles to all. Sincerely, Lester G. Seibold.

Lester died this day. This was the last e-mail he sent to me just shortly before he passed on...leaving his work unfinished. My friend—very sadly missed.
